2021 Black Monster Made from single vineyard Donnybrook Malbec, a small production wine and Lamont’s flagship red. A deep burgundy black with typical magenta rim, aromatics of dark plum and blackberry. This wine spent 15 months in 60% new oak (Hermitage) and 40% second use (D & J) prior to bottling. The natural acidity provides the backbone around which the generous fruit and well married oak linger to give heighten flavours on the late palate.  As yet youthful, the wine is dense, velvety and drying, showing great cellaring potential. Alc/Vol 14.5% Drink now or cellar in the long term. ‘Have a monster meal of roasted & braised lamb shanks with rosemary & roasted duck fat potatoes! Don’t hold back! Do it! THE MONSTER WILL COPE!’
